SITUATION OF THE PIG SECTOR IN SPAIN

The Spanish pig sector is in one serious crisis from September of 2007 that is critical and worrisome. The losses that have had the Spanish cattle dealers in 2007 and 2008 must to two reasons essentially: the increase of the production costs by the increase of prices of the raw materials; and by the sale price of its animal, or to the slaughter house or for life. Those of the first fourth month period of 2009 it only is due to the sale price of his animal, or to slaughter house or for life.

The park of reproducers in the 2008 has descended in relation to the one from the 2007 by the closing of operations and because many cattle dealers have not realised the renovation-replacement of females in their operations due to this serious situation that cross, that has caused them serious problems of treasury to the producers.
